Our Mission Statement

The Outreach Auction of Central Unitarian Church and its committee members are dedicated to supporting Bergen County nonprofit organizations that fulfill basic life needs. All proceeds from the auction go to local charities. The auction, first held in 2000, is an annual event calling upon members, friends, and visitors of CUC for support.

2010 is our 10th Annual OUTREACH AUCTION.
Save the date, November 13, 2010 starting at 6:30 pm. We are working hard to make this outreach auction the most successful one yet but we need everyone's help. The current brochure is linked in the right hand column. Please distribute it in your community and help solicit donations for the event. Also consider volunteering to help on auction night. Most importantly, we need you to attend with your friends and family to show your support of this amazing event.

YES WE CAN!!

….that was the overwhelming response at Outreach Auction 2009 when the community was asked if they could raise their paddles in support of nine Bergen County charities. Through the generosity of CUC members and guests, we raised $39,000 for the benefit of the following organizations:

The evening demonstrated CUC’s commitment to social action and the love and dedication that are found at our church. In these economic times, we salute those who attended and gave so generously to help our neighbors. These results show that when we work together, we are greater than the sum of our parts.

Past Success

In 2000, we held our first Outreach Auction. We raised $9,000 that year, and we were thrilled. In 2007, our highest expectations could not prepare us for the overwhelming results of our Outreach Auction. We raised almost $33,000—a 70% increase over 2006's grand total ($19,000). In 2008, we again topped our previous total, despite the poor economy. Thanks to all our members and guests who have been so generous!

This creative community outreach support program won the prestigious Mendon W. Smith award in 2007 in recognition of its service to the greater community.

Bergen County Sanctuary Committee-Serves as a sponsor organization for people who have applied for political asylum, providing humanitarian support and advocacy.

Center for Food Action – Provides food & homelessness prevention assistance at 5 locations in our area.

Habitat For Humanity of Bergen County –Builds homes for first time homeowners who might not otherwise be able to afford to purchase a home.

Holley Childcare & Development Center - A 55 bed residential treatment facility, serving children 5 to 12 years old who are emotionally handicapped through abuse, neglect, poverty, abandonment or other circumstances.

Inter-Religious Fellowship for the Homeless – Provides shelter for families, walk-in dinners for 120 people daily, transitional housing, etc.

Outreach Angels – A volunteer organization dedicated to easing the daily burdens of AIDS & HIV victims.

Shelter Our Sisters - A safe haven for abused women & their children.

Table-To-Table –NJ’s first & only food rescue program delivers unused & leftover food that would normally be discarded to agencies that need it to feed the hungry.

Teaneck National Guard Family Assistance Center – Provides assistance to the more than 500 families in northern NJ affected by mobilization or deployment of family members.
